It was a beautiful day here in IndeMO. So much cooler than it has been in weeks. Windows open all day & night—kind of weather. Because of this confluence of events, I spent a good part of the day out in the garden; pulling weeds, planting seedlings, hosing the sidewalks, and just enjoying a glorious day in the sun, in my yard.
Took a break at noon for lunch, and went back out. I had the energy. I had good weather. Why not!
All the while the earth keeps spinning. The world goes about its day. And a presidential candidate calls it quits.
I voted for “Joe” the last time around. Nice hat Joe! I would have voted for him again. I’d vote for whatever Democrat was running. Anything to defeat “Goldermort” and his Project 2025 ilk.
We’ve lived through four years of the Orange Douchebag … unless you were a COVID casualty. All he did was Make America HATE Again. And with his current campaign, the stakes are so much higher. January 6th will look like a carnival in comparison to what the 2025 loyalists will do to destroy civility, compassion, dignity and humanity as we perceive it. Even the MAGA masses will feel the economic hardships a second term would create. I can’t imagine the horrors he’d devise and smile about.
But I digress …
After lunch I went back out worked some more then came back in the house. I check Facebook and started to see some odd posts from friends that alluded to something that happened. I had an idea what it all meant. Of course I went directly to the NY Times to verify my thoughts. Sure enough I see: BIDEN DROPS OUT AND BACKS HARRIS.
WHAT????????
I must admit I was a little taken aback, and also a little relieved that “Joe” decided to drop out of the race for President. I have to admire President Joe Biden for having the courage and the conviction to step down. Though it would have been nice to actually see how much better the US would be with him at the helm for a second term. It took a lot of courage to step aside and support Vice President Kamala Harris as the new Democratic choice in the race for the presidency.
Hell! Even the DNC will be supporting her run. I also read that donors were already contributing to HER campaign.
So … Run Kamala Run!
Guess we’ll see in the days and weeks leading up to the election how the press frame it, and report on her abilities. I also want to see how the Orange Cheeto handles the change. I can’t imagine the racist, misogynistic, orange one will handle the change well while running against a younger, capable, female opponent of color. Time will tell ….
So let the world change! It’s okay. I’ll be in my garden.
