2024: Springsteen @ Sea.Hear.Now

With all the trials and tribulations in the world, we all need something to occupy ourselves. To lose ourselves in something uplifting. Something to make us turn off our brains and focus on this joyful noise.

And so a very talented, and long time friend of mine produced/edited a video from over 200 social media video clips. He used the LiveSpringsteen.net release of the show as the soundtrack. He then painstakingly wove together and synced segments of all of these shots in one amazing digital film of Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band @ Sea.Hear.Now, Asbury Park, NJ, Sunday, September 15, 2024.

The video is black and white. It was a way to make the footprint of the video smaller, but I’m also sure it helped unify disparate video clips shot in portrait or landscape, on different phones, or cameras, in different resolutions, by a multitude of people with different levels of ability. All in all … it really does work well & makes it feel more like a documentary that will rock your fucking socks off!

I could not be there—though I surely wanted to—this comes pretty damn close!

This new, 2026, cut of GREETINGS ASBURY PARK is now on YouTube.
About half the songs on it have new recently discovered footage that one of the production team recently discovered.
Several sections got major upgrades, most notably Dancing in the Dark – which had always been far and away the most dodgy section of the film. Its now presentable.
Long Walk Home also got a bit of a remake – some on the team were uncomfortable with the footage from the RFK train – feeling it was altering the story of the song. So that is now a straight live performance that couldn’t be achieved before the additional footage.
Nils guitar solo also got ramped up a bit on Because the Night.
Most of the rest of the edits are smaller upgrades or fixing the rare cheat.
So enjoy. This will probably be the last upgrade – but you never know. The people of Asbury Park and our production team are quite unpredictable.
Enjoy and play LOUD on the biggest screen you can.

J’aurai bien voulu y être, mais voilà j’habite en France….

  Je suis heureux que tu aies été transporté virtuellement à la plage d’Asbury Park, dans le New Jersey, pour Sea… Écoute… . Maintenant, place à Bruce Springsteen. Je n’y étais pas non plus, mais « anonymous » a fait un travail incroyable en parcourant Internet, trouvant tous ces clips vidéo parmi les publications de plus de 200 personnes sur les réseaux sociaux. Rien que ça, c’était une prouesse technique. Je ne pense pas qu’il ait tourné une seule vidéo, mais il a trouvé tous ces clips sur Internet.
  Nous étions tous transportés.
  Au fait : La version que vous avez regardée était différente, plus courte. J’ai republié la vidéo complète. Toutes les chansons y seront désormais.
  J’enverrai un SMS à « anonymous » pour lui dire combien tu as apprécié son travail.

  I’m happy you were virtually transported to the beach in Asbury Park, New Jersey for Sea . Hear . Now to see Bruce Springsteen. I was not there either, but “anonymous” sure did an amazing job scouring the Internet, finding all those video clips, from over 200 people’s social media posts. That alone was a gargantuan feat of technical prowess. I don’t think he shot a single video, but found all those clips on the Internet.

  By The Way: The version you watched was a different version, a shorter version. I’ve reposted the full video. All the songs will be there now.

Je regarderai tout cela tranquillement…
Et vous pourrez aussi dire à votre ami “anonyme” que j’ai aussi beaucoup aimé les vidéos de Asbury, sur la chanson E.Shuffle… Moi qui ne pouvait qu’imaginer la ville de Mr Bruce Springsteen, maintenant j’ai pu en avoir un bel aperçu. C’est chouette !

  It’s funny … the version that’s up now was the full version that was up before the “Cinema Edition” that you originally saw, which was shorter and missing songs. I didn’t realize that. You were right. 👍
  So this version is called the “Special Edition”. It was a version where Geoff found some better clips, and the opening shot looking from behind Bruce out to the crowd and the Atlantic Ocean.
  I wish I were living back in New Jersey. I miss the ocean, my friends, and the town. But economics brought me to a place where I could actually afford to buy a house here in the midwest. And so it goes.
  I love that this little film, Bruce and the Internet can bring people together even across oceans. One shore town to another.

  Down in the town, the Circuit’s full of switchblade lovers, so fast, so shiny, so sharp

  C’est drôle… la version qui est disponible maintenant était la version complète qui existait avant l’« Édition Cinéma » que vous avez vue à l’origine, qui était plus courte et à laquelle il manquait des chansons. Je ne m’en étais pas rendu compte. Vous aviez raison. 👍
  Donc, cette version s’appelle l’« Édition Spéciale ». C’est une version où Geoff a trouvé de meilleurs extraits, et le plan d’ouverture où l’on voit Bruce derrière lui, la foule et l’océan Atlantique.
  J’aimerais retourner vivre dans le New Jersey. L’océan, mes amis et la ville me manquent. Mais les économies m’ont permis d’acheter une maison ici, dans le Midwest. Et ainsi de suite.
  J’adore que ce petit film, Bruce et Internet, puisse rassembler les gens, même au-delà des océans. D’une ville côtière à une autre.
  Sandy, les feux d’artifice s’abattent sur Little Eden ce soir.
  Ils illuminent tous ces visages impassibles, abandonnés en ce chaud mois de juillet.
  En ville, le Circuit regorge d’amateurs de couteaux à cran d’arrêt, si rapides, si brillants, si précis.
  Alors que les magiciens jouent sur Pinball Way, sur la promenade, bien après la tombée de la nuit…
